WELCOME TO
PIALATES

My passion for Pilates started while I was attending college and discovered mat Pilates. It was through this experience that I learned my true potential, found true awareness of my body and how to connect my strength throughout. As a child in Chile, I did not practice sports and was very unfamiliar with what body awareness meant. Pilates has given me a new understanding of movement, body engagement and the value this has in overall health.  During my late twenties, I was diagnosed with pelvic floor dysfunction. I used Pilates to rehabilitate and reconnect to my pelvic floor and the rest of my body. I gained early experience combining Pilates and rehabilitation with clients in an orthopedic and pelvic pain setting. Since then, I have become very in tune with how Pilates can give you the “physical” body one may desire but more importantly heal the “inner” body. This realization has allowed me to expand my practice and scope of clients to all body types, backgrounds, and goals. My mission in teaching Pilates is to increase pelvic floor and body awareness to all communities and how powerful this connection can be to one’s overall well-being. I believe that understanding the function of the pelvic floor as an intricate part of the human body is essential to mind-body awareness.   I am fully certified in Pilates apparatus in addition to Scoliosis and Pilates for Neurological Conditions. I also have extensive experience working with Pelvic Floor Dysfunctions and Pre- and-Post Natal population.  I genuinely care about the well-being of my clients and bring warmth and dedication to all my sessions. This creates a space for healing and restoration where my clients feel supported in reaching their highest health and fitness potential.

WHAT IS THE REFORMER?

The reformer is the most popular and versatile piece of equipment in the entire Pilates method repertoire. It helps clients and students obtain core strength and stability in the center of the human body, what Joseph Pilates referred to as the “POWERHOUSE.” The Reformer pushes your body to work regardless of the torso’s: supine, prone or sitting or side lying. TERESA MILLER - GEORGETOWN, TX
I have been seeing Pia as my pilates instructor for several years now. While she is an exceptional pilates instructor she is really so much more to me. Pia keeps my body well and strong but she also fuels my soul with her positive energy. It's hard to describe but Pia has a special essence which makes her sessions even better. Pia has extensive training in physical rehabilitation so her knowledge of the body is far greater than your average pilates instructor. This is important to me as I am prone to muscular issues and she knows how to strengthen specific muscular groups without hurting me. Additionally, Pia takes COVID very seriously and goes above and beyond to make sure her studio is disinfected and safe.

I can't say enough good things about Pia and her dedication to her clients. She is 100% invested at all times. I have learned SO much about Pilates from her. She has also reconnected me with my body after having 2 kiddos. I'm so thankful for Pia and all the positive changes that have happened. I HIGHLY recommend Pia if you are looking for someone to work with!

Pía Moreno has been a wonderful addition to our lives. She has improved our ability to move by providing many ways to improve our flexibility and address problem areas. She is a great listener and therefore adapts her program to perfectly address our needs. Her program is extremely varied and therefore great fun. In addition, her warm and gracious personality makes each lesson Extremely enjoyable. We can not recommend her highly enough❗️

Pialates has changed the way I look at exercise and physical health. I have been doing Pilates for over a year now and I apply the core principles to my everyday life. When I am sitting at my desk I hear a little voice in my head that tells me to "concentrate on the center, control your movements, and breath laterally." This has helped me achieve balance and graceful movement in my everyday activities giving me better posture and overall alignment."

I’ve been a client of Pia’s for over a year now and have gotten great results from Pilates. I originally began as a compliment to physical therapy for my knee. Knee replacement and revision surgeries had left my muscles weak and my balance poor. I had fallen twice as a result, and didn’t want that to happen again. Pia consulted with my physical therapist and created a program for me. Over the course of the last year my strength has improved tremendously, my balance is much better, and I have even been able to dance a little! Toning my core has also resulted in approved appearance - a nice side effect. Thank you, Pia! I’m sticking with “Joe!” (Joseph Pilates) I see it as an investment in my health and quality of life.

I just love Pia and Pialates (Pilates). After having undergone a total left hip replacement two years ago, it was suggested I try Pilates to help build strength and flexibility. The conscious and careful guidance that Pia provided did wonders. I never felt she was having me do things that would hamper my recovery. She motivates you to work hard. I love that she changes the routine so boredom is never a factor. I saw results after just a few weeks and definitely feel that my body is more toned and lean. I am energized and feel stronger than I have in years. In the very near future, I will undergo a total right hip replacement . Pia is so knowledgeable and incredibly kind and caring I know she will once again restore me to good health.
KATHERINE JAMES - AUSTIN, TX
I have been practicing pilates for about 5 years in Austin and California, and Pia is by far my favorite instructor! Unlike many pilates instructors, Pia is a true professional who dedicates herself to learning about the science behind pilates in order to better serve her clients' diverse health needs. Her experience partnering with chiropractors makes her an excellent choice for anyone with spinal issues (like myself); while she can certainly give you a great workout that will leave you sore, I have always found her to be sensitive to my limitations and eager to modify our sessions to honor my body's current capacity. In addition to being exceptionally knowledgable, Pia's unfailingly positive, friendly attitude makes her a joy to be around. You would be hard-pressed to find a better pilates instructor in Austin or anywhere else!

Working with Pia Moreno has completely transformed my body. I’ve never felt stronger! Pia has a very insightful way of working with her clients, customizing your pilates workout for your specific needs and to address specific areas of your body. Pilates is a great workout that isolates muscle groups, giving you a firmer physique, and Pia really knows how to maximize the technique. Because of her deep knowledge of physiology and a background in physical therapy, she creates targeted workouts that can remedy specific injuries or physical limitations. Her sessions are especially good for women because of her focus on the pelvic floor. She’s also just a great person and fun to spend time with. I would work out with Pia every day if I could afford it!
ALEJANDRA MORISI - BALTIMORE, MD
I cannot recommend Pia's Pilates classes enough! I do strength and conditioning training at least 5 times a week. Working with Pia has supplemented my training in order to support areas that really needed it like mobility, range of motion, etc. Pia is experienced and so knowledgeable. We focus a lot of pelvic floor engagement which is not something I've experienced with other trainers. As a woman athlete, this is so incredibly important and greatly overlooked in treatments and training. Her in- person classes are out-of-this-world good! The machines, coupled with her grace and knowledge as a Pilates instructor, made a world of difference for me! My only regret is not being local. If I was, I'd be in her studio everyday. If you live in Austin, you are so lucky! Go see her and you won't regret it! Pia is warm and truly cares about her clients. This is clear even in the online classes I've taken with her.
TAMI WLAJNITZ - BALTIMORE, MD
As a crossfit athlete, stretching and finding ways to increase mobility and decrease muscle tightness can be challenging. Until recently, I had never considered pilates. Thanks to Zoom and quarantine, the opportunity to participate in Pia's classes were ideal. I am so grateful I was able to explore and integrate pilates into my fitness goals. It has helped to increase my weightlifting performance and overall wellness. In addition, on a recent trip to Austin, I visited her studio. I was so impressed with my sessions using her equipment and learning new exercises. Pia's expertise, guidance, and positive spirit truly creates an experience that is challenging in new ways and yet fun. If you are looking for a way to enhance your athleticism, Pialates presents an opportunity for all ages and fitness levels. Go for it! You won't be disappointed.
KATHERINE PRESCOTT - SEAL BEACH, CA
Thanks to Pialates, I am completely mobile again after years of muscle issues. At my physician's direction, I finished several rounds of physical therapy and then immediately started Pilates with Pia. A few weeks into Pialates, I was amazed when I took a major fall - but caught myself just in time with the stability in my new core muscles that Pia had so quickly helped me develop. Having my strength and flexibility back was major for me. Plus walking down the street became a pleasure instead of the awkward stumbling I had been doing for years. No more foot cramping in the middle of the night. No more charley horses at inconvenient times. No more muscle pain and spasms while getting a massage. Those experiences convinced me that Pilates definitely was something I needed to continue with forever. And now I can consider returning to some of the activities I used to enjoy before my muscle problems developed. Working on all of this with Pia was a pleasure. She is very knowledgable, individualizes the sessions to each client, and also keeps me laughing as I work my way through so many new and unusual experiences with Pilates. I owe my current well being to Pia and I am so happy to have had the opportunity to work with her on this journey.
BRUCE KNAPP - CORONA DEL MAR, CA
Since 1989 I have had cervical spine issues. Narrowing of the canal, some stenosis and pinched nerves. The result was pain down my arm, stiffness in my neck and dull headaches. More recent a torn hamstring and then rotator cuff tendinitis resulting in shoulder soreness. Though all of this I have been physically active but with discomforts along the way. At various times I have gone to PT. During one session I was introduced to Pilates. It provided relief for my cervical issue....but I failed to follow up. Two years ago after a PT session they suggested I contacted Pia. I did. My sessions with Pia increased as I began to experience positive results. Pia is well trained in Pilates. She is diligent about attending training classes to continuously upgrade her skills. Her knowledge shines bright during Pilates time. Pia is high energy and superior with understanding needs and communication. One of her strong suits is focusing my specific physical needs. She delivers each week with a program that is challenging and creative. Pia makes for fun and delivers on her desire to have me take control of my physical well being. In addition she makes you do it the right way. I expect Pia is the same with each of her students. I am continuously improving core strength, body alignment, muscle tone, flexibility, posture and focus on proper breathing. I have been able to develop parts of my body that need strengthening.......and feel the results. I feel stronger. I am more energized. My physical issues mentioned earlier are no longer. I have control of them through Pilates and each day spent with Pia. There are many insurance policies out there. Few pay off. Pilates with Pia is a positive Return To Life as it should be.
